ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan’s medical report prompted former president Dr Arif Alvi to seek his immediate transfer to a hospital and an independent medical assessment.

The superintendent of Adiala Jail submitted the report to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. It said doctors prescribed medication on August 10 for blood pressure, anxiety and blood-vessel dilation.

Alvi said on X that he reviewed the report with several specialists. He highlighted reported palpitations, elevated blood pressure and anxiety as areas requiring further assessment.

He also cited a recorded heart rate of 54 beats per minute. Alvi argued that the figure represented a change from Khan’s previous resting rate.

Alvi recommended a 24-hour Holter monitor to investigate the reported palpitations. He also suggested an echocardiogram, stress test and other cardiac imaging if doctors considered them necessary.

The former president also called for regular blood-pressure monitoring. He said an independent medical board should oversee the care of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder.

Alvi attributed Khan’s reported anxiety to prolonged imprisonment and isolation. Those conclusions represent Alvi’s interpretation of the medical information, not diagnoses stated in the jail report.
