At the District Headquarters Hospital in Sheikhupura, a concerning incident led to the suspension of six staff members, including two doctors, after a video showed a junior nursing staff member administering anaesthesia Instead of a qualified anaesthetist.
The District Health Authority’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) took immediate action following the incident, which stemmed from a dispute over the operation list between Consultant Doctor Waqas and a female doctor responsible for anaesthetizing the patient.
Instead of a qualified anaesthetist administrating, a junior nursing staff was instructed to perform the task. The video capturing this improper procedure went viral, prompting Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, to intervene.
In a separate, tragic incident near Mandi Jhhabran in Sheikhupura, the death toll in a family murder case has risen to five. Sonia Nasreen, who had been critically injured, succumbed to her injuries after battling for her life for 14 hours in the hospital. The night prior, unknown assailants had murdered four members of the same family.
The deceased included Shah Mohammad, his wife, their daughter, and an eight-year-old child. Sonia Nasreen, who had recently remarried, was initially the sole survivor among the adult family members, with three other family members not present at the home during the attack.
After completing the necessary post-mortem examinations, the bodies were returned to their relatives and subsequently buried in their ancestral village of Chak 528 Satiana, Faisalabad. The police are continuing their investigation into this heinous crime, as reported by the Saddar Police.
