Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with reported footage suggesting a broader GTA 6 weapons system.
The trailers and leaked screenshots show a mix of melee weapons, handguns, shotguns, rifles, snipers, explosives and tactical gear across Vice City and the state of Leonida.
The reported melee list includes a baseball bat, a hammer, a pool cue, a mini golf club, a knife, a crowbar and fists. The handgun list includes revolver-style and semi-automatic pistols, including models described as Mustang .357, Polymer Pistol, Beretta 92FS, Bersa Thunder 380 and Capo Pistol.
The report said shotgun options include a double-barreled shotgun and a pump-action shotgun. It also listed SMGs and rifles, including an MP5-style weapon, AR-15-style rifles, a SIG Sauer 556-style rifle, an AK-47-style rifle and an M249-style light machine gun.
Sniper and heavy weapons, including bolt-action rifles, an assault sniper rifle, a grenade launcher and an RPG. It said other gear shown or reported includes a speargun, flashbangs, Molotovs and smoke grenades.
The report said Rockstar appears to be changing combat by limiting the number of weapons players can carry. Under the reported system, players may carry two rifles and two pistols, while storing extra weapons in vehicles.
The trailers suggest weapon customisation through optics, grips and weapon variants. It said the AR-15-style rifle could appear in different configurations, suggesting a deeper mod system.
The report said that the protagonists, Jason and Lucia, may handle weapons differently. It also cited new mechanics, including shooting while swimming, truck-bed drive-bys and dynamic weapon pickup and drop actions.
