In a movie-like scene, a groom from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, chased a mini-truck driver who had stolen his money garland during his wedding procession on the NH 58 highway. The incident unfolded as the groom was riding a horse in the procession.
Officials reported that the mini-truck driver, who happened to pass by the ceremony, grabbed the money garland from the groom and sped away, triggering an unexpected pursuit.
A viral video on social media captures the dramatic chase. The groom, attired in a grey suit and red turban, hitches a ride on a passerby’s bike to follow the mini-truck. He then leapt from the bike and attempted to climb into the moving truck to confront the driver. The footage shows the groom entering the truck through the window and bringing it to a halt.
Moments later, the groom, along with two others from the wedding party, forcibly removed the driver and began assaulting him. An additional individual, transporting cylinders on a bike, joined in the altercation.
In the video, the driver is seen pleading for mercy from the groom.
The driver later explained to the groom that he had not intended to steal the garland but had taken it “mistakenly.”
