Lahore, Punjab, has launched the Green Property Certificate to provide legal verification of property ownership and physical possession, the Punjab government said.
The certificate is intended to help property owners protect their assets from illegal occupation and damage.
Property owners can apply for the certificate by visiting their nearest Land Record Centre. After an application is submitted, officials will scrutinise the applicant’s documents and information.
A physical on-site survey will also be conducted before issuance of the certificate.
The green certificate will be issued after final verification by the Assistant Director of Land Records and other senior officials.
Officials said the document provides legal standing on both ownership and possession of land.
The Punjab government has fixed a subsidised fee of Rs900 for the certificate for a limited period.
Officials said the certificate would otherwise cost significantly more without the subsidy.
