Google’s Year in Search 2024 has unveiled a detailed snapshot of Pakistan’s digital interactions, emphasizing the country’s passion for sports, entertainment, food, and technology.
Cricket consistently topped the search trends, which was highlighted by the ICC T20 World Cup’s widespread popularity. The PSL 2024 also garnered attention with searches for schedules and player information, including stars like Shoaib Malik and Sajid Khan, underscoring the national enthusiasm for cricket.
Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem drew significant interest after securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in nearly 30 years, reflecting a broader admiration for notable personalities.
The public’s interest wasn’t confined to sports. Searches for celebrities such as Sana Javed, Zoya Nasir, Indian mogul Mukesh Ambani, and influencers harem Shah and Minahil Malik were also prevalent.
In entertainment, the allure of Pakistani dramas remained strong, with popular titles like “Ishq Murshid” and “Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum” dominating searches. Bollywood films and shows such as “Animal,” “Dunki,” “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” “Stree 2,” “Bigg Boss,” and “Mirzapur Season 3” also resonated widely.
Culinary searches, including garlic bread, egg noodles, and seasonal beverages like peach iced tea, highlighted Pakistan’s diverse culinary tastes.
Technology-related searches showed a keen interest in AI tools like Gemini and Remaker AI, alongside the latest smartphone models from Infinix, Redmi, Vivo, and Apple, pointing to a tech-savvy populace.
“This year’s insights depict a Pakistan that is deeply traditional yet rapidly embracing digital advancements,” noted Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan.
