Overseas Pakistanis can now better understand the Sohni Dharti Remittance Program, a government-backed initiative that rewards people who send money home through legal banking and exchange channels. The Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment says the programme aims to encourage the use of formal remittance systems while recognising contributions to Pakistan’s economy.

The programme runs through a dedicated smartphone app available in English and Urdu. The app tracks each transaction in real time and automatically updates the user’s reward point balance. Users can then redeem those points for selected government services or convert them into cash.

Sohni Dharti Remittance Program

The programme uses a four-tier structure based on the total amount a person remits within a single fiscal year. Users who send up to $10,000 fall into the Green category and earn 1.00% in reward points.

Those who remit between $10,001 and $30,000 move into the Gold tier and receive 1.25%. The Platinum category covers annual transfers from $30,001 to $50,000 and offers 1.50%, while the Diamond tier gives users who send more than $50,000 the highest reward rate of 1.75%.

The system also allows users to move into a higher category as their total remittance amount grows during the year. [Internal link: latest remittance trends in Pakistan]

How to Redeem Sohni Dharti Rewards

One of the programme’s key features is its use of reward points as a virtual currency for key public services. According to the update, users can redeem points for Pakistan International Airlines tickets and extra baggage charges.

They can also use points for Federal Board of Revenue customs duties on imported mobile phones and vehicles, NADRA CNIC and NICOP renewal fees, State Life Insurance or Takaful premiums, OPF school tuition fees, passport renewal charges, and Protector Registration fees from the Bureau of Emigration.

Users can access their rewards through a Virtual Card inside the mobile app. The balance updates automatically after every eligible remittance, making it easier to track benefits without a separate manual process.

The Sohni Dharti Remittance Program app is available on the Google Play Store for Android users and the Apple App Store for iPhone users.
