Gilgit-Baltistan: Returning officers have directed candidates in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections to submit polling agent lists and documents by 5 pm on May 30.
The directives require candidates to file complete polling agent lists, copies of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs), and signed authorisation certificates before the deadline.
Officials said no polling agent documents, lists or related data would be accepted after the stipulated time. The instructions form part of the administrative preparations for polling in all 24 constituencies.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said 693 candidates had submitted nomination papers for the Gilgit-Baltistan general elections. These elections are scheduled for June 7, 2026.
Gilgit-2 recorded the highest number of nominations with 65 candidates, followed by Astore-2 with 57 and Ghizer-2 with 42. Diamer-4 had the lowest number, with 12 nomination papers submitted.

Under the election schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers was to be completed by April 28. Additionally, appeals were to be decided by May 9, withdrawals completed by May 11 and symbols allotted on May 12. Polling is scheduled for June 7.
The Chief Election Commissioner said arrangements had been finalised. He added that a peaceful electoral process would be ensured with support from relevant departments. The polls were earlier postponed from January 24 because of harsh weather conditions.
