WEST PALM BEACH: Former Mossad director David Barnea has joined US-based Ondas Defence as global president and chairman, the company announced on August 3, two months after his five-year term ended.
The Ondas announcement said Barnea would support the company’s international expansion, strategic technology development and relationships with government and defence customers.
He will work with Ondas Chairman and Chief Executive Eric Brock, Ondas Autonomous Systems Co-CEO Oshri Lugassy and executives across the company’s businesses.
Barnea’s initial geographic focus will include the Middle East, Europe and Asia. His responsibilities also cover business and technology integration as Ondas combines its operations into an artificial intelligence-enabled defence platform.
The company groups its defence operations into aerial security, intelligence and persistent surveillance, precision strike and autonomous ground systems.
Barnea led Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency from 2021 until June 2026. Ondas said his tenure included hostage negotiations.

Regional confrontations and the agency’s increased use of artificial intelligence, cyber capabilities and advanced data technologies.
His appointment follows Ondas’s expansion through acquisitions. The company completed its $875.8 million purchase of DZYNE Technologies in July and raised its 2026 revenue target to at least $525 million, according to an Ondas regulatory filing.

Ondas also completed its acquisition of the Israeli defence software company Omnisys in May. Its proposed $125 million purchase of Scottish infrastructure-inspection company Cyberhawk remained subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
