A flour price hike has pushed private company rates to Rs. 180–Rs. 200 per kg, despite the crushing season and the government-fixed wheat price.
Private companies are selling a five-kilogram flour bag for Rs. 900 to Rs. 1,000, according to the report. Branded 40kg flour bags now cost between Rs. 7,200 and Rs. 8,000.

Wheat is selling for up to Rs. 4,000 per 40kg in Lahore’s open market. As a result, private companies are selling flour at nearly double the wheat price.
Citizens urged authorities to act against excessive profiteering in flour sales. They said the increase has added pressure on household budgets already strained by food costs.
