RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military said counterterrorism operations killed 2,084 people it identified as militants during 40,348 intelligence-based actions conducted nationwide so far in 2026.
Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry presented the figures during a July 31 news conference at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
Chaudhry said forces conducted 31,080 operations in Balochistan, 7,177 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 2,091 elsewhere. Police, civil armed forces, intelligence agencies and military personnel carried out the actions, according to Pakistan Television.

— The STRATCOM Bureau (@OSPSF) July 31, 2026The military recorded 3,145 terrorism incidents during the same period. Chaudhry placed 1,971 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,148 in Balochistan and 26 elsewhere in Pakistan.
He said terrorism killed 819 security personnel and civilians. The figure included 303 Pakistan Army personnel, 194 members of the police and civil armed forces, and 322 civilians.

— The STRATCOM Bureau (@OSPSF) July 31, 2026Chaudhry also reported 28 suicide bombings. He attributed most of the attackers to Afghanistan, but publicly available accounts of the briefing did not include evidence supporting that claim.

The ISPR director general said the 2,084 alleged militants killed represented an average of about 10 per day, which he described as the highest rate recorded. He had reported 2,597 militant deaths during all of 2025.
Chaudhry ruled out negotiations with armed groups unless they surrendered and faced legal proceedings. He also said Pakistan should enforce its Constitution and laws equally to become a “hard state.”
