Actor Colman Domingo says Ali and Rue’s story will take a “really big and dynamic” turn in the upcoming “Euphoria” finale.
Domingo shared the tease in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, following the penultimate episode, “Rain or Shine,” which expanded Ali’s backstory. The episode explored his past struggles with addiction, infidelity, and anger before returning to his present-day bond with Rue, played by Zendaya.
The episode also placed Rue in new danger. During a tense conversation, she told Ali she had become entangled with rival drug gangs while working as an informant for the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Domingo said the season gave viewers a deeper context for Ali’s actions across the past two seasons and that the delayed origin story helped propel the character toward the finale.
