BOLAN, Balochistan: A Bolan gas pipeline blast disrupted supplies to Quetta and several other areas late Wednesday after explosives damaged an 18-inch transmission line, Sui Southern Gas Company said.
The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) said the explosion struck the KMP-246 Valve Assembly in the Bolan riverbed near Gorkat in Kachhi district. The site is about 700 to 800 metres from the Quetta-Sibi Road.
According to an SSGC spokesperson, unidentified people placed explosives beneath the pipeline and detonated them remotely. The blast severely damaged the line.
SSGC said supplies were suspended or reduced in Kolpur, Mach, Mastung, Kalat, Pishin, Ziarat and several parts of Quetta. Consumers in the affected areas could experience low pressure or a complete interruption.

Local accounts cited in the source placed the explosion near the main pipeline valve in Bolan’s Daraz Bent area. Flames and smoke were seen rising from the damaged section after the blast.

The gas utility said repair teams were ready to enter the area but required security clearance before beginning work. SSGC management was monitoring the disruption, but the company did not provide a restoration deadline.
The incident followed other attacks on Balochistan’s gas infrastructure. Unidentified attackers damaged pipelines in Dera Bugti and Sohbatpur in May, while another pipeline was targeted near Quetta’s Western Bypass in March.
