Bangladesh beat Australia by nine wickets in the first Test in Darwin on Sunday, completing a 57-run chase to secure their first Test victory on Australian soil.
Australia scored 198 and 284, while Bangladesh replied with 426 and 57-1 at Marrara Stadium, according to the International Cricket Council.
Player of the Match Hasan Mahmud took nine wickets across Australia’s two innings. His first-innings figures of 6-55 helped dismiss the hosts for 198.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 65 in Bangladesh’s first innings before taking five wickets in Australia’s second. His spell ended the hosts’ resistance despite Cameron Green’s 104.
Green’s third Test century helped Australia set Bangladesh a target of 57. Mominul Haque struck the winning boundary off Beau Webster as the visitors completed the chase for one wicket.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto called the result Bangladesh’s biggest victory in any format. The win lifted Bangladesh to fourth in the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 standings with a points percentage of 66.67.

Bangladesh lead the two-Test series 1-0. The second Test will begin in Mackay on August 22.
