Security sources said that Liaqat Ali foiled a suicide attack near the Khushal Garh Railway Bridge in Attock by stopping a suspected bomber from moving toward a populated area and a sensitive security installation.
Security officials said the incident took place near the Mankur checkpost, where the suspected suicide bomber was attempting to reach a sensitive checkpoint in the area.
Liaqat Ali confronted the attacker before he could reach his target, according to security sources. The bomber detonated himself during the encounter, killing Ali on the spot.
Security sources said Ali’s action prevented what could have been a major attack in the area. Officials identified him as a former Pakistan Railways employee and said he was respected for his sense of duty and bravery.
Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi paid tribute to Ali, describing him as a national hero whose courage protected innocent lives. Abbasi expressed condolences to the family and said the nation was proud of Ali’s bravery and patriotism.
The railway minister directed relevant authorities to provide full support and assistance to Ali’s family. Security forces and law enforcement agencies intensified vigilance in the area after the incident, while investigations into the attempted attack were underway
