An anti-terrorism court in the federal capital has issued arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan, and Pakistan Awami Tehereek’s Dr Allama Tahirul Qadri.
The warrants have been released for their allegedly inciting the protestors to attack Parliament House and state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) buildings.
Warrants are also out for the PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umer, Pervaiz Khattak and PAT’s Rahiq Abbasi.
On September 1, 2014 hundreds of protesters trying to topple Pakistan’s government briefly seized the state broadcaster.
Transmissions of the main PTV news channel were cut after protesters armed with clubs stormed the building in Islamabad’s high-security “red zone”. They were removed by security forces after around half an hour.
