CUPERTINO: Apple unveiled its new iPad mini OLED on Monday, featuring an 8.5-inch display, an A20 Pro processor and a thinner design, starting at $699 in the United States.
Customers can pre-order starting Wednesday, October 28. Apple will begin deliveries and retail sales on Friday, November 6.
The redesigned tablet features a Super Retina XDR display with peak brightness of 1,200 nits and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
Apple has reduced the screen bezels by 24%, allowing the larger display to fit within the previous model’s footprint. Buyers can also choose an optional nano-texture screen finish that reduces glare.
The A20 Pro chip powers the device, delivering improved graphics and AI performance. Apple claims up to 60% faster multithreaded processing than the previous generation.
The company reports up to 4.5 times faster AI performance and 2.7 times better graphics performance under its test conditions.
At 5.4mm thick, the tablet is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor. Apple has introduced IP67 water and dust resistance for the first time in the range.
