MUZAFFARABAD, Azad Jammu and Kashmir — The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission ordered AJK re-polling at 23 Bagh district stations for August 15. Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retired) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal cited disrupted voting.

Mughal said the AJK re-polling order covers nine stations in LA-15 Bagh Central and 14 in LA-16 Bagh East. Delayed starts and later disruptions forced officials to cancel balloting at those stations.

Election Commission data placed Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Sardar Ziaul Qamar first in LA-15 with 16,637 votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas followed with 15,015 votes. The nine affected stations have 5,032 registered voters.

In LA-16, PML-N candidate Sardar Mir Akbar led with 19,515 votes, according to the latest unofficial count. PPP candidate Sardar Qamaruz Zaman followed with 16,290 votes. The 14 affected stations account for about 7,200 votes.

Four constituencies in Bagh and Haveli districts voted on August 10 during the election’s third phase. The commission postponed polling in five Poonch and two Sudhnoti constituencies over law-and-order concerns.

Mughal indicated that the remaining seven constituencies could vote on August 20 or 21. The commission had not announced a final schedule by August 11.
