The newly appointed members of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) earlier today approved the suspension of the licenses of BOL News and BOL Entertainment till the fulfillment of all legal formalities.

Acting Chairman PEMRA Kamal Uddin Tipu, in a meeting, briefed the new members about PEMRA mandate, functions, laws, regulations and the new revised code of conduct for electronic media notified by the federal govt on August 19.

Tipu hoped that four new members, appointed for a  four years term, would help making the organization more strong and robust.

It may be mentioned that Council of Complaints Sindh in its 24th meeting held on August 18 had recommended suspension of BOL TV licenses under direction of Islamabad High Court, said a press release.

The authority approved the Landing Rights Permission to foreign kids channel “TOONAMI,” to help filling huge vacuum and appetite for kids content.

The meeting was attended Secretary Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Muhammad Azam, Secretary Ministry of Interior Shahid Khan and newly appointed members representing provinces, Ms Nargis Nasir (Punjab), Sarfraz Khan Jatio (Sindh), Ms Shaheen Habibullah (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and Munir Ahmed Badini (Balochistan).
