Around a hundred people identified by the city police for involvement in various land grab, extortion, and drug peddling cases will be placed on the exit control list (ECL), Capital City Police Lahore Officer Capt (retd) Muhammad Amin Wains said earlier yesterday.
He was speaking to the media at Police Lines in Qilla Gujjar Singh at the launch of the city-wide operation (called Sharp Cops) against the 100 suspects.
The CCPO said the police would arrest the suspects even if they escape to another country. “If needed, we’ll seek red warrants for their arrest and send teams abroad to bring them back,” he said. He said action would also be taken against anyone, including the police, found abetting the suspects.
The CCPO further said the officials who arrested the suspects would be rewarded with cash prizes.
He said 100 teams had been formed for the operation. “I’ll make sure that the teams are provided with sufficient resources to successfully undertake the operation,” he said.
