Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday directed authorities to block blasphemous content and pages on social media.
IHC Chief Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, hearing a case regarding the blasphemous content on social media, directed the Secretary Information Technology to map out a strategy and to block all controversial pages on the social media.
Justice Siddqiui also directed Home Secretary to court assistance from intelligence agencies an to submit a comprehensive strategy to eradicate the blasphemous content within two to three weeks.
Justice Siddiqui remarked the vulgarism has overtaken electronic media in the country and honor of nation is being sold in the name of product; hence, he directed Secretary Information to look into the matter.
Justice Siddiqui remarked also remarked that the court may also summon the Prime Minister if needed “I will summon Prime Minister in case no action takes place. I request you to take action. For God’s sake, do not do this to the holy Prophet (peace be upon him),”
He also directed the authorities to inform the Prime Minister about the proceedings on the case.
