In a rare public apology, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg earlier today, admitted that his team may had have made a mistake in deleting actor Hamza Ali Abbasi’s Facebook post in response to the Paris attack.
Zuckerberg, in response to a comment on Facebook, said:
Later in the day, a member of Zuckerberg’s Facebook team, Justin Osofsky, in a post said that Facebook had “made a mistake in taking this down”.
“We apologise for this error, and hope that the author will re-post it as we are not able to restore it from out end,” the post further stated.
Earlier on Sunday evening, Hamza Ali said the social media website had removed his post and warned him after deactivating his profile.
Mark Zuckerberg was severely castigated for the removal of Hamza’s post since he had just a day ago declared that he would not ‘cow down to extremists and curb speech’ on his site. The post by Abbasi got over 45,000 likes and some 5,000 shares.
