Actor Will Smith has again become the focus of online debate after fresh rumours suggested a possible return to the Oscars.
Several social media posts claimed that Smith’s ban had been lifted. Some also alleged that he would appear on stage to apologise to Chris Rock for the 2022 incident.
Fans quickly shared the claims across platforms. However, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has not confirmed any change in Smith’s status.

After the incident, Smith publicly apologised on several occasions. He also released a video in which he accepted responsibility and expressed regret. These apologies were personal and not made on behalf of, or in coordination with, the Academy.
Despite renewed speculation online, there is no evidence that Smith’s ban has been lifted. The Academy has not announced any revision to its earlier decision. For now, Smith remains barred from attending the Oscars.
