Meta’s platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, are currently facing a significant outage across the US, impacting thousands. Downdetector has received over 10,000 reports, predominantly regarding Instagram. Although it primarily affects US users, disruptions have also been noted in India.
Data from Downdetector indicates that 67% of the reports concern the Instagram app, with 9% related to login troubles and 25% to server connection issues. The outage, starting this morning, has spread across various US regions.
Meta has yet to comment officially on the situation. Their status page still shows all services as operational despite reports of issues with Workplace from Meta and Messenger.
This incident adds to Meta’s previous outages, including a notable global disruption in March last year affecting multiple platforms.
With ongoing access issues, many affected users migrate to other social networks like Twitter to express their discontent and seek information. The extent of the impact, according to Downdetector, is based on user submissions, suggesting the actual scope may be broader.
