Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist, Arshad Nadeem, recently addressed and dismissed rumours regarding a note he allegedly received upon his arrival at Lahore Airport after his victory at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Social media speculation had suggested that the note instructed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to praise the media during his interactions with them.
In a detailed interview with Farrukh Warrich on Aik News, Arshad Nadeem clarified the circumstances of the incident. He explained that the note he received did not contain any special instructions or directives to praise any political figures. Instead, the note prepared him for his upcoming interaction with the press, advising him to maintain professionalism in his communication.
“They advised that it would be beneficial for the world to hear it in a polished manner,” Nadeem recounted. Despite the advice, he preferred speaking freely, stating, “However, I conveyed that I was comfortable speaking without that guidance as well.” This clarification by Nadeem aims to restate the rumours and emphasize that his remarks were his own and were unaffected by any external influences.
