Corruption and fraud have increasingly infiltrated everyday transactions in Pakistan, with petrol pumps now also under scrutiny for deceiving the public. Numerous incidents have surfaced online, highlighting exploitation at petrol stations despite the presence of security cameras.
A recent video that went viral on social media captures a petrol station employee manipulating the machine while dispensing fuel into a motorcycle. When he notices he is being recorded, he quickly ceases his actions and signals to a colleague about the camera.
The video, posted by Asad Malik on social media platform X, is a cautionary tale. Malik urges people to remain vigilant while refuelling their vehicles.
This incident has drawn criticism, particularly because the workers involved, who often come from labouring and impoverished backgrounds, still choose to exploit consumers, further exacerbating the issue of trust in public service areas.
