Warning issued to Hafeez over ‘suspect’ bowling action

Muhammed Hafeez, the skipper of Lahore Lions, has reportedly been warned by umpires over his suspect bowling action marked with a pause.

It should be mentioned here that the warning was issued to two players—Hafeez and Dolphins bowler Prenelan Subrayen, over a suspected illegal bowling action during Saturday’s Champions League Twenty20 match between Lahore Lions and the Dolphins at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

According to a press release of Champions League Twenty20, the anomaly was reported by on-field umpires Kumar Dharamsena and Vineet Kulkarni, along with third umpire Anil Chaudhary, towards the close of the match.

Under the League’s policy regarding the bowling action, the two bowlers may seek an official assessment from the Suspect Bowling Action Committee of Indian cricket board BCCI.

Though the two players are on the warning list, they may continue to play and bowl for their team in any match of the tournament.
