Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport faced ground stops as storms moved through the area.
The FAA said ground stops remained in effect until 6:30 p.m. at JFK and LaGuardia and until 6 p.m. at Newark. Nearly 200 LaGuardia-bound flights were delayed that day, including about 100 cancellations.
