Young enlisted in the Army at about 18 and served for 16 years, including two tours in Afghanistan. She balanced her military career with a strong presence on social media, amassing over 100,000 followers.
Young’s Instagram showcased her work with a veteran-focused athletic apparel company. She used her platform to advocate for improved mental health services for veterans and to address homelessness among ex-soldiers.
Young, a single mother, was known for her deep bond with her daughter, Gracie. Her social media was filled with their moments together, celebrating life’s milestones. Days before her passing, Young posted a heartfelt birthday message for Gracie on Instagram. Additionally, Young contributed to her community as a crisis trauma volunteer and was vocal about mental health, especially during Suicide Prevention Week.

A GoFundMe campaign for Young’s daughter has gathered nearly $25,000. The funds are intended to support Gracie, honouring Young’s legacy as a devoted mother.
