Karachi police arrested a dozen students, including a female, for assaulting a lecturer at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science, and Technology (FUUAST).
Sikandar Sherwani, an assistant professor of microbiology at the FUUAST Gulshan Iqbal campus, allegedly stopped a female student from taking an exam.
According to the FIR lodged against Ramsha Batool and 19 other students, professor Sherwani was in his office when the accused student Ramsha Batool and several other students entered his office and assaulted him.
As per the eyewitnesses, the student first requested that the professor allow the girl to take the exam, but he refused because she had no attendance. At this point, the students began assaulting the professor and brandishing weapons on university grounds.
