The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) issues the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), a critical identity document for Pakistani nationals. The CNIC displays the holder’s name, birthdate, and postal address, including marital status information in NADRA’s database.
To ensure the accuracy of their identity records, Pakistani citizens must update their marital status with NADRA upon marriage. This update is crucial as it provides several benefits, including issuing a computerized marriage certificate and the B-Form for children, which is essential for various administrative processes.

The process to update marital status is currently available to male citizens, who must provide the following documents to NADRA:
- Nikahnama (marriage certificate)
- A copy of the spouse’s NIC
As of October 2024, the fee for modifying marital status in the NADRA records is Rs100. This fee applies as the change is classified as an unprintable alteration in the database. It is important to note that if the details provided by the applicant are found unsatisfactory, NADRA reserves the right to reject the modification request.
