Three unidentified armedmen robbed the KFC restaurant on Benazir Bhutto Road in Saddar area after midnight on Tuesday. The men walked away with cash and the CCTV system.

The robbers parked their motorcycles outside the fast food restaurant, which is located close to the defence ministry, and snatched the guard’s gun before storming inside.

Faizan Ali, cashier at KFC, told Cantt police he was closing up the restaurant at around 2am when three unidentified men walked inside and placed an order for burgers. Faizan told the police he was not aware of what had happened with the guard outside at the time.

He said the men pulled out their guns when he told them the restaurant was closing and was out of food. The men held all workers, including the manager and security guard, at gun point and told the manager to give up all the cash.

The robbers then asked to be taken to where the CCTV cameras were being controlled from. The men made away with Rs320,000 and the security surveillance system after locking the employees inside.

Nasrullah Khan, the sub-inspector who is leading the investigation, told the media that the culprits were on motorcycles and were thought to be in their 30s. He said the police will track down the robbers and recover the stolen cash and security system soon.
