U.S. Acknowledges Taliban’s Seizure of Weapons
John Kirby also acknowledged that the Taliban government eventually seized the weapons intended for the Afghan army following Kabul’s fall.
The development has raised concerns, particularly regarding the potential threat of cross-border terror attacks on Pakistan. Kirby emphasized the United States’ alliance with Islamabad, reflecting ongoing diplomatic relations and shared security concerns.
Additionally, the U.S. has recently reiterated its support for free and fair elections in Pakistan. State Department spokesperson Mathew Miller emphasized the U.S. commitment to engaging with leaders elected by the Pakistani people, underscoring a neutral stance on Pakistan’s internal political dynamics.
