LOS ANGELES: Tyler Perry sequel “Why Did I Get Married Again?” will premiere on Netflix on September 9, with Taraji P. Henson joining the cast, PEOPLE reported.
The comedy-drama continues Perry’s franchise after “Why Did I Get Married?” in 2007 and “Why Did I Get Married Too?” in 2010.
PEOPLE said the new film reunites Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Michael Jai White, Tasha Smith and Sharon Leal.
Netflix’s official page also lists Perry, Henson and Scott among the cast. The sequel is set at a wedding in Lake Como, Italy.
The story centres on the wedding of Marcus and Angela Williams’ daughter. Michael Jai White plays Marcus Williams, while Tasha Smith returns as Angela Williams.
Perry told PEOPLE that the sequel shows how the characters have matured and how love carried them through difficult periods.
