Twitch streamer Isaiah Thomas suffered injuries on Tuesday when a car struck him on an Indiana highway during a livestream of his cross-country charity walk to California. The incident interrupted a journey he had undertaken to raise support and awareness through his online platform.
Thomas, known online as “hmbl zayy,” was walking on Interstate 40 when a silver sedan rear-ended a dark blue Mazda that had been trailing him as a protective vehicle.
The impact pushed the Mazda into Thomas just before 3 pm, sending him off camera and throwing his cart into the road.
Fans watching the Twitch livestream posted messages urging people to call the police and asking whether Thomas was safe.
Thomas returned to the stream moments later, appeared shaken and picked up his camera to show his belongings scattered across the road.
Emergency services arrived about 20 minutes later. Thomas told police that a back brace had helped protect him. He was taken to the hospital for checks on his neck, feet and legs.

Thomas was on day 34 of a planned 100-day trek to raise USD 200,000 for “HMBL University,” a trade-focused education project.
