At least twelve security personnel were martyred in a suicide attack at a check post in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, citing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing reported that the attack occurred on 19 November 2024 at a joint check post in the Bannu district, resulting in the deaths of 12 Pakistani soldiers, including 10 from the security forces and two from the Frontier Constabulary. The group Khwarij attempted to storm the post in the MaliKhel area, according to ISPR.
During the incident, an exchange of fire resulted in the death of six attackers.
The terrorists attempted to penetrate the post’s defenses by detonating an explosive-laden vehicle against the perimeter wall, causing a significant explosion.
This explosion collapsed part of the wall and damaged adjacent infrastructure, tragically resulting in the martyrdom of twelve soldiers and injuring several others.
ISPR announced that security forces initiated a sanitisation operation following the incident to eliminate the remaining attackers in the area.
