A Turkish Airlines pilot tragically passed away after collapsing mid-flight, prompting an emergency landing in New York, the airline confirmed on Wednesday.
According to airline spokesperson Yahya Ustun on X, previously known as Twitter, the aircraft departing from Seattle on Tuesday evening encountered this unfortunate event.
“Our Airbus A350 pilot on flight TK204 from Seattle to Istanbul collapsed during the flight,” Ustun reported.
Despite efforts to administer first aid, the situation necessitated an emergency landing by the remaining flight crew, including another pilot and a co-pilot. Unfortunately, the pilot succumbed before they could land.
