US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has stated his intent to end the war in Ukraine before his potential inauguration in January, should he win the November 5 election.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described a “very good call” with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, promising to negotiate an end to the conflict between Kyiv and Moscow.

Zelensky confirmed the conversation with Trump and expressed gratitude for US military support. However, he did not mention any efforts to resolve the 28-month-old war in his social media post on platform X, formerly Twitter.

The Republican candidate claimed that the war would have been avoided if he had been president when Russia deployed troops to Ukraine in February 2022.

Trump also pledged in his post to “bring peace to the world and end the war that has cost so many lives.” He asserted that both parties could negotiate a deal to halt the violence and lead to prosperity.

Despite offering few specific policy details, Trump suggested in a Reuters interview last year that Ukraine might need to cede territory for peace.

Zelensky, in his post, congratulated Trump on securing the Republican nomination and condemned a recent assassination attempt against him. He wished Trump safety and highlighted the critical bipartisan US support for Ukraine’s freedom.

Trump praised the ongoing US support for Ukraine’s resistance against Russian aggression. Daily Russian attacks on Ukrainian towns persist, he noted.

Zelensky has rejected any negotiations with Russia as long as Russian troops remain in Ukraine. He proposed a peace plan, which he presented at a “world summit” last month, which Russia did not attend. The plan demands the withdrawal of Russian forces and the restoration of Ukraine’s borders from 1991.

Currently, Russian troops control about 20% of Ukraine, with gradual territorial gains in the east, including the strategic capture of Avdiivka in February.

Lastly, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has published a guide detailing the nationalization process and compliance requirements to avoid legal penalties. Institutions are urged to implement these standards rigorously.
