U.S. President Donald Trump reacted to reports that actress Sydney Sweeney registered as a Republican in Florida for the 2024 election. Before boarding Marine One, a reporter informed him about her registration.

Trump expressed his surprise and enthusiasm, stating, “You’d be surprised by how many people are Republicans. I’m glad you mentioned that. If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic!”

The remark refers to Sweeney’s recent American Eagle campaign, which ignited controversy over its tagline, “great jeans.” Some interpreted this tagline as suggesting eugenics messaging. Trump’s positive response aligns with conservative support for the advertisement, which is seen as “anti-woke.” This fits into broader discussions about Sweeney’s political affiliations.

Sweeney, known for her role in “Euphoria”, has come under scrutiny regarding her voter registration, as revealed by BuzzFeed. Although she advocates for various causes, including LGBTQ+ rights, trans rights, Black Lives Matter, and pro-choice issues, her identification as a Republican has surprised many fans.

The revelation comes at a time when she faces backlash from her advertisements for HEYDUDE and American Eagle, further fueling cultural and political discussions.

Trump’s endorsement demonstrates how celebrities’ political views can intersect with public discourse, amplifying their influence. Sweeney’s silence on this issue leaves room for speculation, but her registration highlights the complexity of navigating personal beliefs in the public eye.
