US President Donald Trump met Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, at the White House on September 25, 2025, as part of the Trump Shehbaz Sharif meeting.

The Trump-Shehbaz Sharif meeting lasted over an hour. Leaders discussed global and regional issues. They covered counter-terrorism and trade. The meeting shows that US-Pakistan ties are strengthening.

Before the talks, Trump called Sharif and Munir “great” people to reporters. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance attended the session. The White House images show friendly exchanges.

US-Pakistan relations have improved under Trump since January 2025. Washington now views Pakistan as a partner against China’s growing influence in the Asia region. This marks a shift from focusing mainly on India. A US-brokered ceasefire between India and Pakistan in May 2025 helped boost ties. Pakistan even nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for this effort.

The July 31, 2025, US-Pakistan trade deal shows real progress. It includes a 19% US tariff on Pakistani goods. No similar deal exists with India. This has prompted New Delhi to rethink its approach toward China.

Trump hosted Munir for lunch earlier in 2025. This was the first solo meeting between a US president and a Pakistani army chief. The military leader is Pakistan’s most powerful figure. He joined Sharif for this important bilateral meeting, highlighting the significance of the Trump-Shehbaz Sharif meeting.

A State Department official said, “We are working on counter-terrorism, economic, and trade ties.” Trump focuses on US interests by engaging with Pakistan’s leaders.

The summit shows renewed cooperation amid regional changes. The US has tensions with India over visas and tariffs. The US-Pakistan partnership could influence South Asian politics. High-level meetings, including Sharif’s talk with Trump at the UN, show strong momentum.

Trump’s White House meeting with Sharif and Munir advances the US-Pakistan partnership. The outcomes of the Trump Shehbaz Sharif meeting could reshape regional relations. This covers everything from trade to security.
