WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump said he would “probably be open” to a meeting with Pezeshkian as both leaders prepare to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst said Sunday that Trump gave the response when asked whether he would meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the gathering. No meeting between the two presidents has been confirmed.
Trump also told Yingst he was in “deciding mode” over Iran and said the United States was considering three broad courses: further military action, continued economic pressure or reaching an agreement with Tehran. He warned that major developments could come soon.
"My question is, if and when do I blow the entire nation up?" President Trump told Fox News. "They better behave."

Tensions have also centred on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and Washington’s economic and military pressure on Tehran.
Iranian officials have separately outlined conditions they say would be required for de-escalation, including an end to fighting, access to frozen Iranian funds and an end to the U.S.-led naval blockade. Those demands have been conveyed through regional mediators.

The 81st United Nations General Assembly general debate begins Tuesday, September 22, at UN headquarters in New York and continues through September 28. Both Trump and Pezeshkian are expected to be in the city during the high-level week.
Trump has alternated between threats of further escalation and public references to a negotiated settlement, leaving the possibility of direct diplomacy open as the two delegations converge on New York.
