ST. LOUIS: Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was identified in federal court as a victim of a Travis Kelce Ponzi scheme case that defrauded 64 investors.

U.S. District Judge Zachary M. Bluestone sentenced investment adviser Siddharth Jawahar, 38, on September 15 to 11 years in federal prison and ordered him to pay $31.35 million in restitution to victims.

Prosecutors said Jawahar ran Texas-based Swiftarc Capital LLC and took in more than $35 million from investors between July 2016 and December 2023, while investing only about $10 million. New investor money also funded repayments to earlier clients and personal spending, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Jawahar began concentrating client funds in Philip Morris Pakistan in 2015. The Justice Department said 99% of client funds were eventually consolidated into that holding, but Jawahar concealed its declining value and falsely told investors they were making profits.

Prosecutors disclosed Kelce’s name during sentencing but provided no details about how much he invested or lost. A 2021 Forbes report had previously identified Kelce as an investor in the Swiftarc Ventures Labs Fund.

Jawahar pleaded guilty in January to three counts of wire fraud. Prosecutors also said that after his indictment, he tried to coach a victim’s statement and have evidence remotely deleted from his phone.

Kelce has not been accused of wrongdoing in the case. His representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to the Associated Press.
