Authorities in Balochistan have been put on alert after torrential rains lashed most parts of the country’s province of Balochistan for the third consecutive day, with Met office predicting more showers within the next 24 hours.

The provincial government has set up Control Rooms and Emergency Centers after flooding in rivers and nullas in northern areas of Balochistan.

According to Met Office officials, rains in Balochistan are caused by a weather system that wreaked havoc in United Arab States and other parts of Middle East.

The Meteorological Department also forecast rainfall in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and northwestern parts of the country, prompting local administrations and Disaster Management authorities to cancel leaves of rescue officials and employees of other departments concerned

The Met Office said most parts of KPK would receive heavy rains from Friday and the latest spell of rain is likely to last for a week.
