The TOKEN2049 conference, held April 30–May 1, 2025, at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, attracted 15,000 attendees from over 150 countries, cementing the UAE’s role as a global crypto hub.
According to Reuters, TOKEN2049 will feature speakers like Binance’s Changpeng Zhao, BlackRock’s Robert Mitchnick, Goldman Sachs’ Mathew McDermott, and Eric Trump.
The event highlighted blockchain innovation amid mixed sentiments about U.S. President Donald Trump’s crypto policies. While Trump, once a sceptic, has embraced cryptocurrencies with eased regulations and a personal crypto venture, Bitcoin prices dropped 12% from their post-election peak, reflecting concerns over slow regulatory progress and global trade tensions.

Attendees expressed cautious optimism. Miklos Veszpremi, COO of a Web3 streaming platform, noted, “In the long term, it’s going to be good for crypto, but it relies on the world economy picking up,” citing potential tariff-related challenges. The crypto sector saw $5.4 billion in Q1 2025 venture capital, the highest since mid-2022, per PitchBook.
