Sky One has no broadcasts of the animated sitcom “The Simpsons” listed from Sunday to November 13, according to television blogger Wesley Mead, although a permanent departure remains unconfirmed.
Writing on his blog on October 24, Mead identified the gap after checking upcoming schedules. His Simpsons Archive listings end the channel’s current run with the season 16 Halloween special, “Treehouse of Horror XV”, on Saturday.
Mead believes the absence could signal the end of Sky’s broadcast rights. However, he acknowledged: “There’s no official announcement.”
He described the break as the longest since the early 1990s, during a 36-year broadcasting relationship. His assessment of a permanent exit remains separate from the published schedule. UK viewers still have other places to watch the programme.
Mead’s listings show continuing broadcasts on E4 and Channel 4 during November. Disney+ also carries the series, with its official UK guide listing seasons one to 37 and exclusive episodes.
Under a deal Channel 4 announced on December 17, 2024, new seasons premiere on Disney+ before airing on E4. They subsequently become available on Channel 4’s streaming platform for a limited period. Channel 4 has broadcast the comedy since 2004, and it previously aired on BBC Two.
Separately, voice actor Sunil Malhotra has taken over as Apu in “Treehouse of Horror Presents: The Revengening”. The character returns to speaking after years of silent appearances.

Actor Hank Azaria stopped voicing Apu in 2020 after criticism of the character’s portrayal of South Asian people. Variety identified Malhotra as his successor in an exclusive report.
