Sydney Sweeney’s R-rated psychological thriller “The Housemaid” reached No. 3 on Prime Video’s global movie chart in June 2026 after debuting on the platform on June 1.
The Paul Feig-directed film ranked behind “Jack Ryan: Ghost War” and “Over Your Dead Body.” It also placed ahead of Gerard Butler’s “Greenland 2: Migration.”
“The Housemaid” was released in theatres on Dec. 19, 2025. The Freida McFadden adaptation grossed more than $400 million worldwide against a $35 million budget.
Sweeney stars as Millie, a parolee who takes a live-in job with the wealthy Winchester family. Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar also star in the film.
The film later topped PVOD charts after its February 2026 digital release. It also premiered on Starz on April 1, 2026, and remained in the platform’s U.S. Top 10 for more than 70 days.

Starz said “The Housemaid” drove record subscriber acquisitions and on-demand viewership. The film is available on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Prime Video with Ads, and for rent or purchase on Apple TV Store and Amazon Video.
The film holds a 73% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92% audience score. Lionsgate has confirmed “The Housemaid’s Secret,” a sequel slated for 2027.
