Speculation around a surprise appearance by Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards has been firmly shut down by the show’s producer.
Rumours gained traction earlier this week after industry publication HITS suggested organisers were attempting to secure Swift for a performance at the ceremony on Sunday, February 1.
Fans quickly amplified the claim online, even though Swift is neither nominated nor scheduled to appear as a presenter this year.
Grammy Awards producer Ben Winston dismissed the speculation outright, calling the report baseless.
“The only reason people think Taylor might be performing or attending is that HITS printed it,” Winston said. “They completely made it up, and now it’s being treated as fact.”
He added that the rumour cycle had become self-perpetuating, noting that the story originated without confirmation and then spread globally.
Swift, a 14-time Grammy winner, has not performed at the ceremony since 2021. This year, she holds no nominations and has no official role in the broadcast.

Industry observers note that Grammy performances typically involve nominees, presenters, or pre-announced guests, making a surprise appearance improbable.
With Winston’s clarification, hopes of a Swift performance at this year’s ceremony have effectively ended.
