Information Minister Ataullah Tarar recently highlighted that PTI’s efforts to compromise Pakistan’s GSP+ status were detrimental to the nation. He emphasized this status’s role in reducing inflation and boosting employment. Tarar criticized certain politicians for jeopardizing Pakistan’s stability and economic prosperity for political gains, asserting that such disruptions would not be tolerated.
Tarar critiqued PTI’s European Union ambitions, labeling them as detrimental. He mentioned a letter to the IMF by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, suggesting it aimed at leading Pakistan to default, a situation averted by PM Shehbaz Sharif’s intervention.
He accused PTI of using pressure tactics related to Imran Khan’s jail conditions, noting privileges provided to Khan, including frequent visits and exercise facilities, were exceptional.
Tarar pledged to advocate for media workers’ welfare and to serve as a liaison between the government and the media. He called for media collaboration to address national challenges.
Additionally, he mentioned the government’s initiatives to enhance economic development and mitigate inflation through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), highlighting PM Shehbaz’s efforts to address economic challenges.
