At least 10 people were killed and 12 others injured after armed assailants opened fire at Bondi Beach in Sydney on Sunday, according to international media reports. Witnesses said two gunmen fired indiscriminately at people gathered at the beach.

Emergency services responded quickly. Police sealed off the area and urged residents and visitors to avoid Bondi Beach while investigations continued.

Police established a security perimeter and began collecting evidence at the scene. Officials have not yet released details about the suspects or confirmed a motive. Authorities said they would provide updates as the investigation progresses.

Shocking footage has emerged showing how a bystander saved multiple lives during today’s mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney. Video shared on X captures the dramatic moment the man confronts and disarms a gunman as terrified beachgoers flee for safety.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar described the attack as the outcome of what he called “antisemitic rampages” in Australia over the past two years. He said rhetoric calling to “globalise the intifada” had materialised at Bondi Beach and urged Australian authorities to respond decisively. These remarks reflect his assessment and have not been confirmed by Australian investigators.

Sky News reported that the shooting occurred during a beach gathering marking Hanukkah, the Jewish winter festival. Alex Ryvchin, Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, told the broadcaster that the event celebrated a joyful occasion for the Jewish community.

“If we were targeted deliberately in this way, it is something none of us could have imagined,” Ryvchin said, calling the attack horrific. He added that his media adviser sustained injuries during the shooting.

The incident has shocked Sydney residents and drawn international attention. Community leaders called for calm and solidarity while urging authorities to ensure public safety and deliver a transparent investigation.
