Karachi: The Sunday Bazaar in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 8 area of Karachi has been demolished. The bazaar was the most popular open air market in the city and was widely visited by locals and foreigners.
DHA spokesman Major Aurangzeb said he was unaware of this development and would gather information and provide details. Sources in DHA said the owners of stalls can contact the housing authority after two days.
According to a report published in The News ‘DHA Sunday Bazaar laid to rest’ by Zeeshan Azmat, the market was set-up under an agreement between the DHA and the bazaar’s contractor. The agreement came to an end on December 31 last year and the DHA gave a three-month extension to its management to shift it to another location.
